Bastos is a Brazilian city of São Paulo. It is located at latitude 21°55'19" South and longitude 50°44'02" West, with an altitude of 445 meters. Its population in 2004 was 21,343 inhabitants. It has an area of 170.4 km².
The city has the largest flock of laying hens in the country and thus is the municipality with the largest egg production in Brazil. The city is self-proclaimed "Capital of the Egg." Thus, Bastos is also the headquarters of the Brazilian city of the Egg Festival. This festival brings together not only an exhibition of innovations and products used in the poultry industry, as well as concerts and entertainment for the general population and the region of Bastos.
